Biography

Yvonne Maloney was born on the Mediterranean island of Malta, where she spent her childhood before immigrating with her family to Canada and later to the United States. It was in Malta where she feels the sense of color and form was ingrained.

“I was surrounded by historical architecture, Maltese traditions and the wonderful blue Mediterranean Sea which imprinted my experiences and emotions that I continue to incorporate into my paintings”. Growing up in Malta, her artistic talents were directed toward opera as an active singing member of the International Light Opera Society.

Yvonne discovered her love for art in her early teenage years and started painting with water colors and oil pastels.

Yvonne’s contemporary work is translating the beauty she sees in her world onto canvas. Her elegant paintings are bold, beautiful and full of vibrant colors. Celebrating the nature of flowers, animals and women reminds us to enjoy natural beauty in life. Her contemporary style fits perfectly with her subjects and sets a quiet mood of serenity.

Yvonne enjoys sharing her work at exhibitions and in alternate locations such as galleries, museums and community spaces. She sees the cycle of living, painting and giving as essential balance to her existence as an artist.

Mrs. Maloney is a devoted artist with a kind soul. She feels that selling her art work is a fulfilling act of sharing. Yvonne donates 100% of her art proceeds to charitable organizations.

Education and Influences

Art has always been a part of my life. I have been painting for over 18 years now. Initially I was a self-taught artist drawing from a sense of color and light ingrained during my youth when living in the Mediterranean. I began seriously painting in 2000. The influences of Matisse and Modigliani are prevalent in my work.
